I've been making green beans with this method for years. I mean, literally years. I've never thought to post a recipe here because they're just so darn easy and I thought "well, everyone already knows how to prepare green beans".
So why the change of heart?
Well, recently, I had a dozen or so women over for dinner. I am part of a fundraising group in my town and at the end of the season we have dinner together. This year was my year to prepare the dinner. By the way, getting food ready and out hot all at the same time for a dozen women is not that easy. Anyway, I'm drifting (as usual), I made these green beans and more than one person asked me about the recipe.
A few days later, I found myself in conversation with one of the women about these darn green beans again. She had told me she tried to make them but was not successful. She raved about these green beans to her significant other. Then, another woman, part of the conversation said "don't you have the recipe on your blog" and I said "no". Then, it all clicked.
And that is how I came to be here, telling you all about my Best Green Bean Recipe Ever.
Make sure you have good sized skillet/ fry pan for this recipe!

Please don't feel the need to come back here and tell me that my beans suck. I think we can all agree that there is plenty of room in this world for more than one person to declare their green bean recipe the best, no? However, if you agree that this is The Best Green Bean Recipe Ever, feel free to come back and tell me so!!!

It's not often I make such a declaration but the simplicity of this recipe paired with the flavor really does make this the Best Green Bean Recipe Ever in my opinion.
- 1 T olive oil
- 12 oz green beans trimmed
- 1 T butter
- 2 cloves garlic minced/pressed thru a press
- ½ tsp coarse salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper freshly cracked/ground
- 1 T water
Heat skillet with oil over medium/high heat. Add beans. Allow them to blister/scorch a tiny bit. Toss to make sure all beans get some color on them.
Using tongs, make a well in the center of the beans, add butter and garlic. Cook 30 seconds before mixing in with the beans. Add salt and pepper. Toss beans well to make sure they are all coated and seasoned.
Add water and cook, stirring often, just until water is evaporated and beans are tender/crisp.
