Let’s talk about How To Make Air Fryer Bacon, shall we?
Tip: Use this air fryer bacon as an ingredient in Air Fryer Breakfast Egg Rolls!
If you follow me on social media, you know a few things about me. One, I love kitchen gadgets. Two, when I purchase new gadgets, I spend a ridiculous amount of time experimenting with said gadgets. Three, I recently purchased an air fryer.
I don’t think it’s hard to connect the dots here. The entire weekend was dedicated to experimenting with the air fryer.
Frozen nuggets and fries were first. Next, I moved on to homemade chicken tenders. Those tenders need a little tweaking before I share those with you. Saturday morning though, was bacon time! I started with a batch solely for experimenting but next thing I new, the scent of bacon was luring my son and husband into the kitchen. I ended up having to make two batches to keep up with the demand!
My son ONLY likes his bacon crispy. When he orders at our favorite breakfast place he says “bacon, well done please”. So when I tell you this bacon comes out crispy, you can believe it!
Here’s how to make Air Fryer Bacon
Step 1: Line the bottom outer basket with foil
Step 2: Place bacon in fryer basket and insert into the outer basket. Set temp to 370 F & time to 9 minutes.
Step 3. Wait patiently.
Step 4. Very carefully, using tongs, move bacon from fryer to a paper towel lined plate.
Note: The paper towel was barely necessary. Usually after cooking the conventional way, the paper towel is saturated in grease. Not this time.
Should I preheat the Air Fryer?
I have been preheating for 5 minutes for just about everything I have made with the exception of the bacon. I figure when I cook bacon in the oven or on the stove top, I start with a cold oven or a cold pan.
Why did you cut the bacon in half?
Not sure if it was even necessary but from everything I’m learning about the air fryer, air circulation is key. By cutting the bacon slices in half, I was able to arrange them with a little space in between each strip, allowing the air to circulate. Again, not sure if it’s necessary but I’m choosing to do it this way.
An important note about Air Fryer Bacon – If you are cooking back to back batches, make sure you remove the rendered bacon grease prior to making a second batch. I can only assume this would make things very messy to have a build up of bacon grease!
