File this recipe under easy dinner recipes that are more ideas than recipes. Saying the title - Turkey Meatball Subs with Alfredo Pesto Sauce almost takes as long as preparing it.

A toasted sub with prepared meatballs and sauce in roll on a white plate with a salad to the right of it.

If you are against jarred sauces or frozen meatballs, bye. This won't be for you. I have plenty of other recipes you might like better such as my Homemade Italian Meatballs, Buffalo Chicken Meatballs and Air Fryer Turkey Meatballs.

If you admit that you sometimes are just too busy to make everything from scratch and occasionally make dinner from shortcut ingredients then this alfredo pesto sauce meatball sub is for you - Welcome!

    Ingredients

Just a few convenience ingredients and you're ready to get cooking!

    • Meatballs - Turkey or Beef either frozen (prepared) or leftover
    • Sauce - Alfredo Sauce and Basil Pesto Sauce (If you need a nut free pesto, try my homemade version)
    • Rolls - Any roll will do but I prefer the hoagie style sub rolls
    • Cheese - Provolone is what I used but mozzarella would be great too

    Instructions

    • Prepare the meatballs as per package instructions.
    • Stir together the sauces and heat in a saucepan over medium heat.
    • Spread sauce in each roll and add meatballs. Top with cheese and toast in oven or air fryer.

I like to serve these meatball subs with a simple salad. Yes, usually a store bagged salad because it is a rushed kind of meal. Sometimes I take the time to make the homemade croutons though because those are non-negotiable in my house.

That's actually really awesome. I had never tried turkey meatballs.

I have no problem using canned and jarred stuff. Sometimes, especially if you have a family, there is NO TIME for "real" food. You gotta do what you gotta do.

Thank you so much Liz. Some of the store bought turkey meatballs are really good. We probably have turkey meatballs more often than beef these days.

Can you use mozzarella cheese and not use the pesto? Also, how long do you cook the Alfredo sauce? Been wanting to try this for awhile now.

Yes, you can certainly use mozzarella instead of provolone. The Alfredo sauce just needs to be warmed up so just a few minutes. Enjoy.
