Heat oil in a skillet over medium/high heat. Season chicken with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Add seasoned chicken to heated skillet. Cook until browned on all sides, stirring occasionally, about 8 minutes total.
Pour milk and broth into skillet. Bring just to a boil. Add butter and rice. Bring back up to just a boil, cover and reduce heat to low to simmer 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, place broccoli and ¼ C water in a micro-steamer or other microwavable container with a cover that can be vented and cook 1 min 45 sec, just to steam. Drain water.
Stir broccoli into rice/chicken mixture. Stir in cheese. Cook 2 more minutes over low heat, uncovered. Enjoy
