Combine all meatball ingredients, except olive oil, and roll into meatballs (about 16 meatballs yield).
Heat oil in large skillet over medium/high heat. Brown meatballs (in batches) on all sides. When all meatballs are browned, set aside.
Return pan to stovetop over medium heat. If all oil is gone, add 1 T and heat. Add onion and carrot. Cook 3-4 minutes, until starting to soften. Add garlic and spices, stir and cook 1 minute. Add tomatoes and stir well. Add meatballs back to pan, in sauce. Simmer 15-20 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through.
Serve over white or jasmine rice.
