Heat olive oil in a large non stick skillet over medium/high heat. Add onion, cook just until beginning to soften, about 3-4 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more. Add sausage to skillet. Cook until sausage is cooked thru, stirring occasionally to break up, about 5-6 minutes or so.
Stir in dry gnocchi. Pour in broth and sauce . Stir well to distribute ingredients evenly.
Bring just a boil. Cover and reduce heat to simmer for 5 minutes.
Remove cover and stir in spinach. Replace cover just until spinach is wilted, about 2 minutes.
Arrange mozzarella over the top of mixture and let simmer just 2-3 minutes more, uncovered.
If desired, garnish with fresh basil.
