Heat grill to medium.
If using salt, sprinkle salt over watermelon slices and place on grill. Cook just until good grill marks appear, flip over and repeat. Remove from grill.
While watermelon is grilling, prepare reduction.
Place vinegar, sugar and water in a small saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil and then simmer until reduced and thick like a syrup. Set aside to cool.
Cut rind off watermelon and chop watermelon into chunks. Add strawberries and basil. Pour balsamic syrup over fruit and toss to coat.
Garnish with additional basil if desired.
