Well, hello! Thank you for visiting my little corner in the internet world.
I'm Christine, AKA Foody Schmoody and this is my blog!

Wondering why the heck I am writing this blog? Here’s a little info on me (I mean, you’re in the “about” section, so I’m assuming you want to know about me).
About Christine
Let’s start with the first and probably most obvious; I’m a bit of a wise guy. I’m sarcastic and I think I’m funny (even when I’m probably not). I rely on humor a lot in my life.
At the age of 26 or so, I was diagnosed with a rapidly progressive form of rheumatoid arthritis. What does that mean? Well, it means, I have bad luck! No, seriously, it means my immune system is attacking my own body, specifically my joints. So, in a nutshell, I hurt. All. THE. TIME.
Okay, enough of that sob story. Let’s get to the food, shall we?
Background In Food
I grew up in a family that cooked. My Mom is quite literally, “off the boat” Italian. Seriously, she came here on a boat with my grandmother. Anyway, those ladies are the ones who taught me to cook. I mean, it was never a “here’s how to do this” type of teaching. It was more just watching for a few minutes here and there kind of learning.
As I got older, my love for experimenting in the kitchen just kept growing. Although my friends and family members would often ask me for recipes, I was unable to provide them. I really never measured anything and they couldn’t figure out amounts when I would say “a pinch of this” or “a palm-full of that”.
It wasn’t until I gave up my medical management career to care for my children that I found myself craving a creative outlet. What better way to satisfy my creative yearning and also give those friends of mine the recipes they’ve been wanting?
I was reluctant to start a blog, wondering who would want to listen to what I had to say. But, it wasn’t long until I realized, lots of people actually want to hear what I have to say! Who knew?!
This blog has become my way to get people in the kitchen. I share my recipe success stories, but I also share my failures. We all have them. I don’t want people to be scared to experiment. It’s all about trying and finding what works and also what doesn’t work.
What does "Foody Schmoody" mean?
So, where did the name FOODY SCHMOODY come from? Well, I think a lot of times, the word “foodie” is pretentious. And no, I don’t mean to be rude or mean but it’s true. The name is a fun play on that. It doesn’t matter if I’m using the proper technique or matching the right flavors. To me, if it tastes good in the end, well, that’s all that I care about. So I say Foody Schmoody…I’m JUST Cooking 🙂
So with that very long winded “about me” behind us, I will leave you with these last words. Get in the kitchen. Don’t be afraid. Get your kids in there with you, its an incredible bonding experience and they will remember it, I promise. I know this from experience.
Oh, did I mention, I cooked for Gordon Ramsay? Well, I did. Ha! Seriously! I know I joke a lot but it's not a joke! I actually cooked food, he and his enormous camera crew came to my home to get it. I swear it's true! still have the TV show on my DVR three years later. I think it's safe to say we will NEVER get a new cable box!
