Is it just me, or does summer make you totally lose track of time? I'm not sure if it's the unpredictable schedule, the days staying brighter longer or just that we are having so much darn fun that I don't realize that dinnertime has come and gone and I haven't planned anything.
Doh.
Happens all the time.
My kids just got out of school this past week, so most of our time now is spent at the beach or out by the pool. Sometimes, I don't even look at the time until it's like 7 PM and that doesn't exactly give me enough time to get dinner on the table before bedtime.
To make life easier on myself and to avoid the call to order takeout, last time I was at Stop & Shop I picked up a few boxes of Ling Ling Fried Rice. I have tried some of the other Ling Ling products before, so I figured I'd give the fried rice a shot.
The first variety I tried was the Thai-Style Chicken. I had to. Thai take out is our weakness. I also spend a small fortune on it, so the price of the Ling Ling was looking pretty good too.
Besides the Thai-Style Chicken, Ling Ling also offers these varieties of fried rice:
- Yakitori Chicken
- Yakiniku Beef
- Chinese-Style Vegetable
- Bibimbap Beef
Here's the scoop on the rice. Inside each box are two bags of rice. If I'm cooking for just me and my husband I cook just the one bag. I'd say if you are cooking for the entire family, you're going to want to cook both bags.
There is the option to prepare the fried rice in either the microwave or on the stove-top. I chose stove-top because I like a little crispness to my rice. I'm sure one of these days, I'll really be in a pinch and try the microwave instruction.
I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor of the rice. It did have a lot of flavor and it could totally hold it's own, up against a takeout container of rice.
I did a little research and found out the reason Ling Ling Fried Rice has such exceptional taste is because they use an infusion cooking method; infusing each grain of rice with their signature sauces. They also use high quality ingredients and no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. Just the good stuff!
You can bet that I'll be keeping a box or two of Ling Ling Fried Ricein my freezer for these fun-packed, busy days of summer. The next variety I'll try is the Yakitori Chicken!
Guess what other good news I have for you? I've got a COUPON to share! You know how coupons make me all giddy. Well, here is a coupon for $2.00 off a box of Ling Ling Fried Rice!
