This Brownie Batter Dip is an easy, chocolate dessert minus the hassle of baking.
Perfect for just about any occasion, one taste of this dessert dip and you'll be reminiscing of the days when it was okay to lick the brownie batter bowl!

One of the great things about this chocolate dessert dip is the versatility of it. You can serve it up for just about any holiday or occasion, simply by changing up the sprinkles on top.
You already know I'm not much of a from-scratch baker. I love an easy dessert that uses a boxed mix. Boxed mixes are great. You might remember some of my other from a box desserts like the Bailey's Irish Cream Brownies or my Mini Egg Brownies for Easter.

📋Ingredients
Only a few simple ingredients are needed to create this easy brownie batter dip.
- Brownie Mix - you can use any variety you like
- Cream Cheese - room temperature or softened (tip to quick softening below)
- Whipped Topping - Cool Whip or generic, I haven't tested this with sugar-free only the original
- Milk - I like to use chocolate milk but regular milk is fine
- Chocolate Chips - I like the mini chocolate chips, regular size are a bit too big
- Sprinkles - Use whichever kind you like, just make sure they match the occasion. If you don't want to use sprinkles, you could use other candy instead like m&m.
See recipe card for quantities.

5. Step 5: Transfer to serving bowl and top with sprinkles or candy.
🍳Heat Treating
What is heat treating and why are we doing it to the brownie mix?
Brownie mix contains raw flour. Raw flour should not be consumed. The FDA warns that consuming raw flour can lead to food born illness. If you want to read up on that visit the FDA page regarding raw flours and batters.
To heat treat, we basically cook it. The flour, or in this case, the brownie mix should come to 165 degrees F. You can do this a number of ways but the only way I have done it is using the microwave. Here are the steps:
- Microwave - for 30 seconds
- Stir - you must stir because the mix clumps together and you won't get a true reading unless it is stirred.
- Take temperature - use a quick-read thermometer to do this. It will likely not be at temperature after the first 30 seconds.
- Repeat - continue the process above until 165 F is achieved. For me this was 90 seconds in total time.
🥘Equipment
There isn't too much required for this recipe. Some simple items you likely already have but just in case you don't, here are some items you can purchase so you have on hand when you feel like whipping up a batch of brownie batter dip!
- Microwave-safe mixing bowls - technically only one of the bowls need be safe for microwaving, but why not get a whole set?
- Quick-read thermometer - I like this one in particular because I find it to be accurate and quite quick.
- Hand Mixer - I like a hand mixer for this. You could use your big old Kitchen Aid Mixer but who wants to lug that big behemoth out for this simple recipe? Not me.
🥣Storage
Store unused or leftover brownie batter dip in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
