meatloaf burger by foodyschmoodyblog.com #meatloaf #burger #recipeYup, you read the title right, Meatloaf Burger.  All one thing.  Not leftover meatloaf turned into a sandwich, but an actual burger made from meatloaf mix.

We've been getting small glimpses of spring here in Massachusetts, but nothing too promising.  As a matter of fact, I woke up last week, to snow!  It's just not right that we can go from 74 degrees one day and then wake up to snow the next.  Madness!  Anyway, before I go on a total rant about how sucky this winter has been, my real point is that I have been wanting to cook a nice, fat, juicy burger.  Now, most people would say, just fry it, or use a grill pan, right?  Wrong.

    Meatloaf Burger by foodyschmoodyblog.com #meatloaf #burger #recipe

When we renovated our house a few years back, for some reason, we didn't vent the kitchen.  By we, I mean, he. By he, I mean my husband.  Sorry, honey, if you are reading this.  I'm going to trash talk you a little.  Don't get me wrong, it's not out of laziness, the man is always working on something here (currently renovating our basement into a mudroom, laundry room, tool room, bathroom and play room).  Actually, that may be the problem, it always gets pushed to the bottom of the "to do" list.  Every winter when I complain about not being able to cook burgers or steaks on the grill pan he says "I'll do the vent in the spring".  Well....it's spring.  Just saying.

Okay, so are you seeing where I am going with this?  It's spring, no vent, and I want a burger.  I'm really not sure why I haven't used my oven for burgers before, but this was my new plan.  My plan also started off as a turkey burger, but when I got to the grocery store, ground turkey was $7.99 a pound!  But, meatloaf mix (ground beef, veal & pork) was only $3.99 a pound.

    Meatloaf Burger by foodyschmoodyblog.com #meatloaf #burger #recipe

I got the meat home and started to mix it up, just like I would for meatloaf, but instead of forming it into a loaf, I divided it into 4 equal parts and formed some awesome patties.  The only thing holding me back from the oven method was that I was nervous the outside wouldn't brown, and a proper burger needs to be browned, don't you think?  I figured that a few minutes in a skillet just to brown them up, wouldn't hurt.  But I also opened all the kitchen windows, just in case.

It turned out perfectly!   I seared one side of the burgers in an oven proof skillet and then transferred the pan to the oven.  It was the best of both worlds.  Who needs a stinkn' vent?!  Just kidding, honey, I do still need the vent.

I've been making my meatloaves "single serve" for a while now - I cook them on the grill pan on the stove because it's faster than the oven. But I really like this idea - I just need a oven safe pan.

I sometimes make my meatloaves single serve in muffin tins. For some reason the kids always like things that are cooked single serve. thanks for dropping by Kelly

I've never tried a meatloaf burger, but it sure sounds better than the plain old burger patties that Hubby makes all the time (not that I complain when he makes dinner). This one seems to have all the right stuff in all the right places too! Thanks so much for sharing again on The Yuck Stops Here this week! Hope to see you back next week, we’ll be starting the party on Tuesday evening at 6pm ET instead of Monday from now on! HUGS
