Spicy Candied Bacon Baked Brie - An ooey gooey appetizer that has it al;, oozing cheese, a little sweet, a little spice, a bit of crunch and did I mention it's got BACON!
I can't believe I've been holding on to this recipe for over a week now and haven't shared it until now. Sorry. Don't worry, it's good enough that you'll forget you were ever made at me after just one taste.
Here's how this beautiful brie came to be. See what I did there? I rhymed. I'm on point today, huh?
Back to business. Last weekend, my brother and his wife came over for an impromptu game night. We were chatting on the phone, talking about scheduling a game night a few weeks out when I said "what about tonight". I never thought they'd be able to on such short notice, but they said yes, which was awesome.
I'm such a nerd about game nights.
Luckily for me, my husband is too and so is my brother. His wife, not so much. She's a good sport though. She comes, even though she doesn't have the competitive drive that the rest of us do.
If you come to game night at my house there are a few things you should expect:
You WILL be made fun of.
There will be beer.
There will be wine.
There will be bad attitudes.
There will be yelling.
There will be snacks.
There will be an argument.
There will be eye rolling.
There will be massive amounts of cheese.
That last fact is no joke. Instead of calling it game night, we might as well call it "cheese night". I'm lucky enough that my brother has a love of cheeses too. So whenever we have game night planned, the first thing I do is run out and buy as many blocks of cheese, bread and crackers that I can afford. Cheese gets expensive quick. But it's so worth it!
Anyway, with all these cheesy appetizers on the menu, I thought it would be a great time to bust out the new serve-ware I got from Uncommon Goods.
What is Uncommon Goods you ask? Uncommon Goods is a Brooklyn based retailer specializing in selling items created in harmony with the environment without harm to animals or people. Seriously, they're no joke. They are a founding B Corp. They meet a rigorous standard on lots of issues including wage levels, environment impact and giving back to the community.
I was pretty impressed to find out that the lowest paid seasonal worker starts at 50% above the minimum wage. I think that's awesome.
I obviously fell in love with the website based on their kitchen products but some of the other categories of awesome stuff they sell are:
Personalized Wedding Gifts - Check it out HERE
Birthday Gifts - Check it out HERE
Home Decor - Check it out HERE
Barbeque - Check it out HERE
As you can see from my photos, one of the items I was lucky to obtain from Uncommon Goods was the Hot and Cold Soapstone Serving Platter. I love the idea of this because the platter is split in two. One side can go right in the oven and the other can be chilled in the refrigerator. This is perfect for me because I was able to bake my Spicy Candied Bacon Brie on one and keep the other in the fridge to serve the cold cheeses. And they can both go right in the tray without worry of scorching the tray or cracking from the hold/cold close together.
I also was lucky enough to receive the Lazy Susan with Serving Dishes. This server is perfect for keeping in the center of the table. I put a dip in the center dish and all kinds of other items in the surrounding dishes. I love that the dishes aren't attached so they're easy to clean. I've also been storing away the dishes when I don't need them and I'm using the Lazy Susan as a centerpiece for my kitchen table with napkins, salt and pepper on it. Don't you just love when something has more than one use?
Oh, I almost forgot, the last thing I received was Steel Cheese Slicer. Do you believe that with all this cheese I consume, I've never actually owned a cheese slicer? Now that I have one, I don't know why I never got one before.
Plus, my goofy brother liked the shape of the cheese slicer. As you can see, it doubles as a mustache! Did I forget to mention bad jokes are part of game night?
Spicy Candied Bacon Baked Brie is my new favorite game night snack. What are some of your favorite game night eats?

I'm not a huge fan of sweet either but the combo of the cheese and the heat of the sriracha make the perfect balance.
