If you’re craving takeout but want to control the cost and the ingredients, this Garlic Honey Slow Cooker Chicken recipe is for you.
You can use either boneless chicken breasts or boneless chicken thighs to make this honey garlic chicken because the real star is the sauce, that is where all the flavor is.
You could probably even use pork if you really wanted to.

This crockpot chicken recipe is truly a set it and forget it until it is cooked kind of recipe. Just combine everything and cook on either low or high, shred the chicken and serve.
The only thing this flavorful takeout chicken recipe is missing is the crispiness of the chicken because it isn’t deep fried and battered. I don’t know about you but I could use a break from all those extra calories anyway!
When deciding on whether to cook your chicken in a slow cooker on low or high, get to know your slow cooker. I have had brands that run hot so I only cook on low because the low setting tends to cook more like high. I have also had some that don’t quite get hot enough so I use high. I highly recommend getting to know your slow cooker, especially if it is older. I am dreaming of buying the new Ninja Possible Cooker!

🔪Cooking Instructions
The cooking instructions for this are fairly easy. Feel free to skip down to the recipe card. I'm leaving these step by step preparation photos for those of you like me; visual learners.
When it comes to shredding the chicken there are many ways to do this. Most of the time I just take two forks and pull apart the chicken. I know a lot of people like using meat claws, a hand mixer or even their bowl mixers.

Thanks for two things here, first the recipe and 2nd, the crockpot recommendation. I'm down to a crockpot that is from the 70's. It works great, but I fear for it's lifespan. I'm in the market. Love this dish.

You are very welcome. I really do (finally) like a crockpot. It took me a while and about 3 different ones, but I am the most happy w/ the one I have now. Good luck and thanks!

You meant “cook on high for 4 hours” or “6 to 8 on low”, up above in the directions, correct?

Oh my gosh, yes, thank you! Sorry about that. Brain fog here - it has been a while since I made a silly mistake like that. Thanks again - fixing now!
