Ice Cream Sundae Cones  -  No need to decide between an ice cream cone or a sundae because these fun treats combine the best of both by making a sundae IN a cone!

    ice cream sundae cones

Now that we are week 2 into June, I'm having to get my plans together for the kids end of school pool party!  I always like to have a little something special for the kids.  I had already come up with and tested out my main course idea, which of course, you might remember is my Make Your Own Sliders Bar!  Today, I finally came up with a fun dessert idea!

Josh (my son) has been asking me to make Ice Cream Sand Buckets again.  Honestly, I will be making them over the summer, but I always like a fresh new idea for each party.  Since my daughter loves a good ice cream sundae and my son loves ice cream, in a cone, I decided to mash those two things together to make these Ice Cream Sundae Cones.

As soon as I got the idea, my little helpers and I hopped in the car and head straight to Walmart to grab all our ingredients.  Nora tends to go with fruit flavors, while Josh tends to go for the rich and decadent varieties.  Since the new Blue Bunny® packaging is clear, the kids could see very easily what they were in store for.  I have to say, being able to see all those flavor swirls was even pretty tempting to me.  Okay, fine, it was so tempting, I grabbed a package that suits my flavor profile too!

    Ice Cream Sundae Cones

Blue Bunny® Ice Cream is easily located in the freezer section at Walmart!

By the time we left the store, we had grabbed Blue Bunny® Cherry Pickin' Chocolate™, Blue Bunny® Peanut Butter Party and Blue Bunny® Salted Caramel Craze!  I had to assure the kids we would get the Banana Split variety on our next trip.

We also figured out the sundae toppings we thought would go best with our chosen ice cream flavors and came home with a handful of Smucker's ice cream toppings; including Magic Shell Chocolate Fudge Topping, Caramel Spoonable Ice Cream Topping, Strawberry Spoonable Ice Cream Topping and a few others.

The fun part (besides eating them, obviously) about these Ice Cream Sundae Cones is that they are totally customizable and you can change up the flavors or the toppings to suit your own cravings!

The big hit of the day with Miss Nora, was one I made with Blue Bunny® Cherry Pickin' Chocolate™, Smucker's Strawberry Spoonable Ice Cream Topping, Magic Shell, Whipped Cream and topped it off with a cherry.

Josh's favorite was a bit different, with Blue Bunny® Peanut Butter Party, Smucker's Magic Shell, Caramel Ice Cream Topping, Marshmallow Topping and chopped nuts!  I used the marshmallow topping to be the "glue" that held on the nuts on top.

    ice cream sundae cones

Smucker's has plenty of economical options for sundae toppings, so you'll be able to come up with a lot of great combinations if you put your mind to it.

    Ingredients

    Ice Cream Sundae Cone #1

    • Blue Bunny® Cherry Pickin Chocolate™ Ice Cream
    • Keebler Sugar Cones
    • Smucker's Strawberry Spoonable Ice Cream Topping
    • Smucker's Magic Shell Chocolate Fudge Flavored Topping
    • Whipped Cream
    • Maraschino Cherries

    Ice Cream Sundae Cone #2

    • Blue Bunny® Peanut Butter Party Ice Cream
    • Keebler Sugar Cones
    • Smucker's Magic Shell Chocolate Fudge Flavored Topping
    • Smucker's Caramel Spoonable Ice Cream Topping
    • Smucker's Marshmallow Ice Cream Topping
    • Peanuts chopped

    Instructions

    Ice Cream Sundae Cone #1

    • Spoon a bit of the strawberry topping into cone so it sits in the point of the bottom of cone. Squeeze magic shell around inner edges of cone. Place in freezer 2 minutes (If you don't have a stand, using an upside down cardboard egg carton with holes cut in it will double as a stand).
    • Fill cone with ice cream, being sure to make a nice rounded scoop on top. Squeeze magic shell over the top of ice cream (TIP - do this over the sink in case there is dripping or alternatively pour magic shell into a bowl and dunk ice cream in to cover). Place back in freezer for 2 minutes (to avoid ice cream melting). Remove from freezer and top with whipped cream and finish with a cherry. Enjoy!

    Ice Cream Sundae Cone #2

    • Place a bit of caramel in cone so it sits in the bottom point of the cone. Squeeze magic shell around inner edges of cone. Place in freezer for 2 minutes. (If you don't have a stand, using an upside down cardboard egg carton with holes cut in it will double as a stand).
Remove from freezer and drizzle marshmallow topping on top of shell and top with nuts. Enjoy!

These are absolutely amazing. I would gobble them up in no time.

I don't think we have Blue Bunny in Canada. I always eye it when I shop in the states but I'm too worried I'd get stuck at the border while it all melts.

What a clever idea.... I could see these being a huge hit at a summer barbecue, especially since you can play around with so many different flavour combinations. I love how there's a sweet treat hiding at the bottom of each cone, too! 🙂

You have made this look so easy. I have been a fan of Blue Bell Ice-cram but now I will have them every week. The idea of a sundae in a cone is conjuring up all kinds of childhood memories
