The warm flavors of cinnamon and maple make this coffee drink perfect for the colder months.

For many months I've been sharing with you ways to save money by making your own coffee at home, even the specialty coffees. I've got more in the works but so far you can check out my Vanilla Latte, Iced Snickerdoodle Coffee, and this Easy Caramel Iced Coffee.

    📋Ingredients for the latte

A white backdrop with a blue towel draped to the left holds small white containers with all the ingredients prepped inside them.
    • Milk - I find whole milk or 2% works best but you can use whichever type of milk you like. The more fat in the milk, the thicker more stable the foam will be.
    • Coffee - brewed hot espresso or strong brewed hot coffee. If using coffee, double the amount of coffee grounds.
    • Vanilla - Vanilla extract is what I prefer. You can use vanilla syrup if you like but I think the vanilla extract is a much better vanilla flavor.
    • Maple Syrup - Use a good maple syrup. Use more if you like your latte on the sweeter side.
    • Cinnamon - ground cinnamon

On the topic of vanilla extract, did you know that you can make Homemade Vanilla Extract? How great is that?

    See recipe card for quantities.

    1. Step 1: Combine hot espresso (or coffee), maple syrup, vanilla and cinnamon in a mug.
A hand is pouring the frothed milk out of a stainless steel container into prepared coffee.
    1. Step 2: Heat milk. This can be done on the stovetop or in the microwave. Heat it to the point where it starts to bubble around the edges but doesn't boil. Froth the warm milk with your choice of frother (see equipment section for recommendations). Pour warmed milk over coffee, being sure to scoop the foam on top.

    1. Step 3: If desired sprinkle the top of the latte with additional cinnamon. You could also add a little whipped cream if you like.

    🥘Variations to the latte recipe

If you'd like to serve this as an Iced Latte, I would suggest using cooled brewed espresso (you can even buy this pre-made in the refrigerator section), cold milk and prepare over ice.

    🍴Equipment

You'll need a milk frother to froth the milk. There are a few options. I own all three of these and the one I use most is the handheld frother. It also is the easiest to store, coming with its own stand.

All three styles are available on Amazon. Buy one now with my affiliate link if you need a frother!

You will also need either instant espresso, an espresso machine or a coffee maker. Ninja now makes a coffee maker that also brews espresso! Ninja mode CFN601 and you can grab that on Amazon.

    ❓FAQ

Can I use non-dairy milk for lattes?

Yes! Non-dairy milks just may not froth as thick or stable as dairy milk.
