This Apple Pie Dip is perfect for apple pie lovers who just don't have the time to roll out dough for crust. This fall inspired fruit dip is about to become your new holiday dessert go to!

The base of this apple dip is similar to a no-bake cheesecake; made with a mixture of cream cheese and whipped topping and sweetened just enough with powdered sugar.

The fluffy cream cheese mixture is topped with a cinnamon apple mixture, just like an apple pie filling.

The holiday season isn't complete without an abundance of apple recipes. Some must haves for me around the holidays are my Apple Cake, Apple Bread, Apple Danish and Apple Cider Mimosas. Oh and don't let me forget my Turkey and Apple Panini - perfect for Thanksgiving leftovers!

    📝 Ingredients

The complete list of ingredients needed to prepare the apple pie dip is located with measurements on the printable recipe card towards the bottom of the page.

All the ingredients needed to prepare recipe. The fruit is loose and all other ingredients are in white ramekins.
    • Apples - I prefer Granny Smith because they hold up so well to cooking but other options I like are Fuji and Pink Lady. You can really use any apple but I prefer the ones with less water content to them so they don't get mushy.
    • Lemon juice - fresh is always best but if you need to use a plastic lemon, go for it.
    • Cream Cheese - do not use fat-free for this one please
    • Whipped Topping - Cool Whip is my preferred brand
    • Pantry items - brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, confectioner's sugar (powdered sugar), and vanilla extract

    🧑‍🍳Instructions

Full instructions located below on the printable recipe card toward bottom of page.

    🍽️ Serving suggestions

Serve Apple Pie Dip with graham crackers, cookies, pretzels or cinnamon pita chips. Some good cookie options are vanilla wafter cookies, buttery waffle crisps or animal crackers.

    🔪Recipe Variations

As mentioned above in the ingredients section, various apples can be used.

Add some crunchy texture to this apple dip by adding some chopped nuts to the top. Almonds or peanuts work well.

For some warmer spice add nutmeg, clove or allspice to the apple mixture.

Go for a caramel apple feel and add a layer of caramel topping over the cream cheese mixture before adding the apple mixture.

    Ingredients

    • 4 Apples peeled and diced - Granny Smith (see note 1)
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • ¼ cup light brown sugar
    • 1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1 cup water
    • 2 tablespoon cornstarch
    • 8 ounce cream cheese softened, room temperature
    • 4 ounces whipped topping Cool Whip or similar
    • 1 cup powdered sugar confectioner's sugar
    • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Instructions

    • In a large bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar and cinnamon until evenly coated.
    • Heat a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the apple mixture and water. Stir to combine. Bring just to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Simmer uncovered until the apples are tender (about 10 minutes or so).
    • Remove a few tablespoons of the liquid from the pan and stir it together with the cornstarch in a bowl. Add the cornstarch mixture back into the apple mixture and continue to simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes, gently stirring, until sauce thickens. Remove form heat. Set aside to cool.
    • While apple mixture is cooling, prepare the dip base. Beat softened cream cheese in a large mixing bowl until smooth. Add whipped topping, powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until well combined and creamy.
    • Spread the cream cheese mixture on serving plate or shallow bowl. Top with cooled apple mixture. Serve or chill until serving. See notes for serving suggestions.

    Notes

Note 1:  You can use any variety of apple but my preference is granny smith, fuji or pink lady. If you use an apple with a high water content, the apple may get mushy. The cook time will be less than the suggested 10 minutes so keep a close eye.

    Serving Suggestions:

Pair with graham crackers, vanilla wafer cookies, waffle cookies/crackers, cinnamon pita chips or animal crackers.

    Recipe variations:

If desired, add chopped peanuts, almonds or pecans to the top for a little crunch.
Add a layer of caramel topping on top of  the cream cheese mixture prior to adding the apple mixture.
Add additional spices such as nutmeg, clove and/or allspice.
