Yes, this recipe is a perfect Game Day Chili recipe but don't worry, you can serve it any day of the week.  No need to wait for Game Day.

    Game Day Chili

It's football season!!!  Do you guys love football?  Nah, me either.  What I do love though, is making football food!  When I think football season, I think chili.  Well, I also think wings and dips and things like that, but mostly chili.

I have a variety of chili recipes, but this Game Day Chili is just a little bit different than all my others.  It's all about the cinnamon.  I know, weird, right?  Trust me.  It gives the chili that little something that will make your family wonder you did differently.  Go with it please.

    Ingredients

    • 1 T olive oil
    • 1 sweet onion diced
    • 2 garlic cloves minced
    • 1.5 lb ground beef
    • 1 T cumin
    • 1 T paprika
    • 1 teaspoon chili powder
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 6 oz tomato paste
    • 6 oz beer darker is better
    • 14 oz beef broth
    • 14 oz red kidney beans
    • Optional: Shredded Monterey Jack Cheese Sour Cream, Guacamole, Tortilla Chips

    Instructions

    • Heat oil in a large pot over medium high heat. Add onions and cook until beginning to soften, about 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more.
    • Add ground beef and brown.
    • Once meat is browned, add tomato paste and spices. Stir well to break down tomato paste. Cook, stirring often, 5 minutes to allow flavors to develop. Slowly add beer, stir, bring to a boil. Add broth and beans. Bring back to just a boil then reduce to a simmer.
    • Simmer 1 hour.
    • Serve in bowls with optional garnishes and tortilla chips.

I'm afraid I am quite a fair weather fan when it comes to football, but not when it comes to food, then I am all in. Your chili recipe looks fabulous. I would be honored if you would come by and share it at Foodie Fridays this week (Thursday 9 pm EST) Have a great rest of your week and hope to see you there!
      Blessings,

Every year I have to google the term "first down", so you know I don't dig football. This chili, however... I'm totally into this! Looks delicious!

I'm not much of a football fan either. I love the food though!! I could eat wings, chips, and chili all day long!! I have a great cream cheese chili that I make! It's hubby's favorite! But I've never made chili like you did though. I've been waiting to find a great recipe. Looks like I found it! Cinnamon in chili? Very interesting. I bet it's delicious!!
