Garlicky Cheese Stuffed Crescent Rolls - These delicious cheesy treats make a great after school snack, appetizer for a party, treat for the dinner table or let's be honest, an any time snack!
I have been seeing tons of pictures lately of pretzel cheese bombs, pizza cheese bombs, even cheeseburger bombs. If it's got cheese, apparently it can be stuffed into pretzel dough or bread dough. While I'm not great with dough, I sure do like the idea of cheese!
Speaking of cheese, you might remember, I recently tried my hand at baked mozzarella sticks. Not just any mozzarella sticks but Buffalo Style Mozzarella Sticks. You might also remember me mentioning I had 2 or 3 major fails before I finally figured it out. The biggest lesson I learned with those mozzarella sticks was that the cheese must be frozen. If it's not, well, you just end up with a mess. Lesson learned and I applied that same knowledge here.
If you want the cheese to be oozing out like in a "bomb" then go ahead and try it without freezing. I don't have the patience for that. I know I work too quickly and I'd end up with cheese oozed out all over my baking pan.
I thought I had refrigerated biscuit dough in my fridge but turns out it was crescent dough. I think I actually liked the buttery flakiness of the crescents better than I would have liked the biscuits anyway. I'm sure at some point I'll try the biscuits but then again, these were so darn good as is, maybe I won't.
Instead of the regular mozzarella cheese sticks, I bought the ones that are twisted cheddar and mozzarella. If you can't find that you could use straight mozzarella. I cut the sticks in half and popped then in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Once the cheese has been in the freezer for 30 minutes I wrap each half inside of a crescent and then brush it with a mixture of melted butter, garlic, salt, and parsley then bake for 10 minutes. That's it. They really are rather easy and a lot less work than making mozzarella sticks.
- 4 String Cheese Sticks cheddar/mozzarella combo best but mozzarella alone is fine
- 1 8 oz Tube Refrigerated Crescent Rolls
- 1 T Butter melted
- 2 Garlic Cloves minced
- 1 T Parsley freshly chopped
- ¼ tsp Salt omit if using salted butter
Cut cheese sticks in half, crosswise. Place cheese sticks in freezer for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove cheese from freezer and preheat oven to 375.
Unroll crescent rolls and separate into triangles. Place cheese half at widest end of crescent and roll up. Be sure to tuck in all ends as you are rolling (so the cheese doesn't ooze out).
Stir together butter, garlic, parsley and salt.
Brush butter mixture over each roll and place on a parchment or Silpat lined baking sheet.
Bake 10 minutes until lightly browned.
