Recipe inspiration sometimes comes from strange places. This recipe for Crock Pot Chicken Bacon Ranch Wraps, oddly enough comes by way of pizza.
We sometimes order pizza from this place in our town that serves bar room style pizzas. You know, the small pizzas, that basically feed one person. They have tons of toppings and specialty pizzas. They do a buy 3 get 1 free deal, so we always get 4. My absolute favorite is the eggplant pizza. My husband, however, has to have, what they call The Dunne Special. It's a white pizza with.....you got it, chicken and bacon. Ranch dressing serves as the "sauce" and I think they even serve ranch on the side.
It certainly isn't the healthiest pizza around, but every now and then you just gotta have it!
I thought it would be fun to take the flavors that my husband loves and transform it into something new. I was originally going to serve it over rice, but once it came together, wraps or sandwiches made more sense to me.
I 'm thinking this would be a great back to school recipe. If your kids are anything like our oldest, the second they get in, they want something to eat. A small snack doesn't cut it. She wants substance. She rarely eats lunch at school, because their lunch time is at 10:30 or something ridiculous like that. Anyway, this is a good one that you can have cooking while the kids are at school and then let them make a wrap when they get home.
Or just make them wait until dinner and serve it with a salad and you've got yourself a meal.

Thanks Sarah. I'm laughing right now because I did not mean to publish this post until Thursday!! I must have hit publish by accident while editing. Oh well, I guess it's out in the blog universe now. I'm glad you're family will enjoy it!

OMG, I'm loving this recipe. Love me some good tex mex, especially when it involves a crock pot and flour tortillas!

I know this is an older recipe so you might not check the comments in time, but I had a question about the directions. After shredding the chicken, you say to put it back in the crock pot and add ranch dressing and cheese. Ranch dressing wasn't listed in the ingredients list (just the seasoning packet), so I wasn't sure if you meant the reserved ranch seasoned liquid, or are you supposed to add in regular ranch dressing? I had this in my menu plan for the week but when I did the shopping I had only scanned the ingredient lists and so didn't pick up any ranch dressing! Looks delicious, hoping to try it soon!

OMG, I've had this recipe up for so long and never realized I had omitted an ingredient! I'm sorry. Yes, add 1/2-1 C of prepared ranch dressing. I'm so sorry. The prepared dressing makes it nice and creamy. Again, I apologize and thank you for pointing this out to me. I'll fix it today!

Thank you so much for your quick response! Turns out I have some extra ranch seasoning so I'll just whip up some prepared dressing--excited I can still make this for tonight without having to make another store run!

Oh good. I'm so glad. Nothing is worse than when you set out to make something and then don't have the ingredients. Again, I'm sorry about the mix up. Sometimes I know these recipes inside and out so when I go to type them in, I just go so fast and omit something. Thanks for calling me out!

Awesome!!! Thanks so much for taking the time to come back and let me know. That means the world to me. If you are a fan of this type of recipe, you might want to check out the Chicken Caesar Wraps. They are absolutely delish too and along the same lines of using the crock pot and adding dressing! Thanks again!
