Here's why you'll love Turkey Burger Egg Rolls

    • You can customize cheeseburger egg rolls to include whichever burger toppings you like.
    • They are perfect for a quick weeknight meal or as an appetizer for just about any gathering. Trust me, these egg rolls will quickly become a favorite.
    • By using ground turkey over ground beef, we are saving a few calories.
    • Meal prep idea. Make a big batch, store in refrigerator. Heat and go!

Grab your favorite topping ingredients and let's elevate your burger game by wrapping them up as egg rolls in this easy recipe!

Looking for a dipping sauce that is a little tangy and a little spicy? Try making this Sriracha Mayo Recipe to dip the cheeseburger egg rolls.

    Ingredients

Consider this ingredient list, a base.

Because I'm a plain cheeseburger kind of gal, I keep it simple and they're plenty of flavorful as is. However, feel free to add in your favorite ingredients.

A wooden cutting board with all ingredients spread out. Each ingredient has a text overlay.
    • Ground turkey - lean
    • Egg Roll Wrappers
    • Onion - yellow
    • Worcestershire sauce
    • Seasonings: Dry ranch seasoning, salt & pepper
    • Cheese - cheddar or cheddar blend, shredded or finely diced
    • Oil - olive oil or avocado oil

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

Don't worry if your first one doesn't come out perfect. The more you do, the better they will look and the faster you will work.

Skillet with the cooked and seasoned turkey meat is on a wooden cutting board. View is from the top.

Cook onion and ground turkey. Season and remove from heat.

Let the turkey mixture cool until it is cool enough to handle.

A measuring cup full of cheese is above a pan of cooked turkey. It appears the cheese is being poured into the pan.

Stir the cheese into the turkey mixture.

Measuring cup full of turkey mixture over an egg roll wrapper on a white cutting board.

Place egg roll wrapper with point at top. Add turkey mixture to center of wrapper.

Sides folded in of the egg roll, showing that it now looks like an envelope.

Fold the sides in. It should look like an envelope. With fingertips or a basting brush, wet the top edges of the wrapper. Fold the roll up. The wet edge should seal it closed.

Egg roll wrapper is being folded up over the turkey filling.

Take the bottom point of the wrapper and bring it up and over the filling.

A folded egg roll, uncooked still being held up by a hand.

This is what your egg roll should look like. The more you do, the faster it will go.

OVEN INSTRUCTION: If baking in the oven, place egg rolls on a prepared baking sheet. Give them a spritz of oil or brush a small amount of oil on each one and bake for 20 minutes.

AIR FRYER INSTRUCTION: Place in air fryer basket and spritz or brush with a small amount of oil. Air fry at 400 F for 8 minutes.

Hint: Air fryers run a bit different from brand to brand so you may need to add a minute or two depending on your air fryer model. I have tried 4 models and so far my absolute favorite I can feel good about recommending is the COSORI 5 qt. It is so much quieter than my old version.

A white plate with both the air fryer and oven baked egg rolls. They are both labeled.

As you can see there is little difference between the air fryer and oven version.

I personally prefer the air fryer egg rolls and my husband said he barely noticed a difference but if he had to choose, he would choose the oven-baked ones.

    Variations

I mentioned above that this recipe is customizable. Here are just a few ideas but feel free to get creative.

    • Spicy - add diced jalapeño peppers or buffalo sauce
    • Saucy - add guacamole, ketchup, mustard, steak sauce or ranch dressing
    • Veggies - add chopped, cooked mushrooms, peppers, pickles

    Serving suggestion

I eat them as is but my family prefers a dipper. Here are some of the dipping sauces my family tells me work well with these egg rolls.

    • ketchup
    • Chick-fil-A sauce
    • ranch dressing
    • salsa
An egg roll is cut in half and a hand is holding it showing the inside of the egg roll.

    Storage

Leftover egg rolls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

To freeze eggrolls, individually wrap in foil and then store in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.

I was skeptical of how the egg roll wrappers would do in the oven, but they turned out perfectly!

Are the egg rolls crispy? I am always scared of baking things I think should be fried.

Jenne, I was very nervous about baking them, but I was hell bent on it. I brushed w/ olive oil which crisped them right up. I swear, no one was more surprised than me when they came out crispy! Just make sure you don't put them directly on the baking sheet, make sure they're on a rack. Putting them directly on a baking sheet is a sure way to get a soggy bottom...That sounded yucky but the only way to say it 🙂

I like the idea of getting a cheeseburger taste without out some of the extra ingredients of a burger:) Creative!
