    I don't think I've eaten a soft boiled egg since I was a kid.

Man, oh man, I used to love to dunk my toast strips into a soft boiled egg in a cup.  I don't know why I have never made this as an adult.  I mean, they couldn't be easier to cook.  You literally just need to know how to boil water.

When I was little, we had cute little egg cups for holding soft boiled eggs.  As an adult, I've just never thought to find these (until now).

So, the other day, when I had the hankering for a soft boiled egg in a cup, I searched my cabinets for a good vessel for holding the egg.  Nope, no, cute egg cups magically appeared.  I did, however, have a few shot glasses in my cabinet.  Perfect!

To make the perfect soft boiled egg:

First, bring a pan of water to a boil.

Next, carefully lower egg into the boiling water and reduce heat to a simmer.

Then, allow the egg to simmer for exactly 4 minutes.

After 4 minutes, carefully remove egg from pan and immediately place in a bowl of icy water to stop the cooking process.

Place your egg in a cup or holding vessel of your choice and use a knife to give the top end of the egg a good whack.  You will then be able to pull the top of the egg off.

Dip your toast in and enjoy!
