Enjoy this Creamy Garlic Tortellini with Spinach as a pasta side dish to just about any protein or toss in some rotisserie or leftover cooked chicken to make it a filling meal or enjoy as a meatless entree!

This tortellini recipe is super easy to make and is ready in about 20 minutes!

    Creamy Garlic Tortellini

    Man, do I love tortellini!

Refrigerated tortellini cooks up so quick and holds its shape so much better than dry or frozen tortellini. This is why I strictly use the refrigerated.

If you opt for the dried tortellini or frozen just be a little more cautious because I find those versions tend to fall apart more than the fresh stuff.

If you love tortellini dishes like I do then you should also try my Tortellini & Ground Beef Skillet Casserole, No-Boil Tortellini and my Lemony Tortellini Pasta Salad!

You can, of course, adjust the amount of garlic in this recipe. I like garlic. Actually, I love garlic so three big cloves is great for me. Adjust accordingly.

If you are a garlic lover though, you might also want to try this Roasted Garlic Soup!

Just a few words about this creamy tortellini recipe. This is not the traditional type of "creamy" where we are making a bechamel. I'm simply adding some heavy cream and letting it cook until a little thickened.

If you are looking for more of an alfredo vibe, this won't be the recipe for you but if you just want to add a little rich cream then you'll love it!

    Serving suggestion

As I mentioned this does make a great entree but I tend to serve it as a side dish. Here are some great main dish ideas to go along with the tortellini.

    Ingredients

    • 20 oz cheese tortellini
    • 2 T butter
    • 3 cloves garlic minced or finely chopped
    • 1 C heavy cream
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked pepper
    • ¾ C freshly grated parmesan cheese divided
    • 6 oz spinach fresh

    Instructions

    • Prepare tortellini according to package instructions.
    • In a large skillet (or pan), melt butter over medium heat and add garlic and spinach. Cook, stirring often, just until spinach is wilted, about 3-5 minutes. Keep the heat at medium to avoid scorching the garlic.
    • Once spinach is wilted, pour in the heavy cream and add cooked tortellini, salt and pepper. Cook over medium heat 5 minutes. Stir in ½ C parmesan cheese.
    • Just before serving top with remaining cheese.
